
This tutorial we will show you how to create text that looks like it glowing.

STEP 1: Create a New Document. Use 350 x 130 pixels. Select Black as Background color.
STEP 2: Type your Text. use any color you want

STEP 3: Click Add a layer style: by going to
and select Bevel and Emboss. You can use these values:

STEP 4: Then select Stroke, and use 3 px and a desired color:

You will see something like that:

STEP 5: Create a new layer:
and apply a Radial Gradient, using Foreground to Transparent type (we choose a light blue as Foreground color)

STEP 6: Duplicate the Layer dragging the Layer 1 to the New Layer icon:

Lock Transparent pixels: Select white color as foreground, and paint with Paint Bucket Tool (G) the new duplicated layer:

STEP 7: Press Ctrl+T to resize the new layer. Make it smaller than the blue gradient. Drag the corner, and hold down Shift to keep the proportions:

STEP 8: Select Layer 1 and Layer 1 copy and press Ctrl+E to marge them
STEP 9: Select this new layer, and press Ctrl and click on the icon of the text layer:
Then, click the Add layer Mask button:
STEP 10: Go to Filter -> Other -> Maximum and set Radius between 5 and 7 px
STEP 11: Go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur and set Radius to 5 px
You will obtain a glow like this:

If you unlink the layer and the mask (taking the chain off):
You can move the “glow” without moving the mask, and place the effect in the desired point.
