Phoenix Hair Effect
This effect relies on a good photo. Blonde hair is going to work best, so if your model has darker haie, change the color to blonde in Photoshop.

Optional- adding a darker flame to hair, take the brush tool, Choose a suitable size brush, color black and add some black strokes to hair. Moving in the direction of the hair.

Ok lets begin, take your Smudge Tool and brushing the hair with the Use a grungy brush, with a small diameter and 50% strength . Begin towards the head and brush outwards, moving in the direction of the hair.

 

Follow the hair's natural direction as shown in the illustration above (notice the wavy black strokes). Now duplicate your layer and use a larger diameter brush to go over the hair again. Be careful not to touch the ears or skin.

 

Now use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to select the hair -- you don't need to be exact here. Now Feather your selection by 15 pixels.

With your hair selected, move up the brightness by +9, and the contrast by +41. If those numbers doesn;t work try your own and see what happens..

Now go to IMAGE, ADJESTMENTS,COLOR BALANCE ( this is very important) when the properties menu come up set to the following.

with this box open and shadow selected, type in these number in each box. Remember play with the number to get the effect you want.

4, 12,-19 click ok open color balance again.

with this box open and Midtone selected, type in these number in each box.

-29, 16,-9 click ok and open color balance again.

Set the final box to 5,1,-17
