1. Start off with a new document, 600 by 300
Grab your paint bucket tool and fill your document with black.

Next make your foreground color white. Select your pencil tool and select the brush to be 9 px, now draw a straight white line almost at the bottom, in the same layer. Hold down on shift to create a stright line.

Select your smudge tool and make your brush about 19 px then smudge the line upwards. try to create a nice flow as you smudge

Next go to Image-Adjuestment-hue/Saturation. (this will allow you to add color to your fire) and set hue: 36 saturation: 67.(*Note*) make sure you have colorize check off on the hue/saturation menu box

.

Duplicate your current layer, and now you can choose freely which style you like. Set your blending option to either color burn, linear burn, color dodge, linear light or vivid light.

I choose Liner light and I bought my opacity to 11% .

Finish.
